Tools of the trade

Today R and I traveled North to Tobyhanna to attend an ice harvest.

Although, it was cold (especially out on the ice) we had a great time.  The ice harvested today came from Millpond #1 and was put into an insulated wooden icehouse and will be used during the summer months.  The icehouse walls are filled with sawdust and the ice will keep all summer long.  Ice has been harvested in the manner since the late 1890's.

Tons of photos were taken but I really liked this one the best.  We don't know the actual age of these ice cleat boots, we think they may be from the 1920's.
