Masked opening

Just days after the Welsh lockdown ends a new venue opens - the mayor seen here cutting the ribbon on Martha's,* a cafe within the town's theatre/cinema that will offer drinks and snacks along with the opportunity to view/buy art, listen to live music and watch short films and trailers.

It's a wonderful achievement by the team of workers and volunteers who run this small but lively cultural centre, especially since several local businesses have closed , and others are struggling, as a result of the pandemic.

Masks were obligatory (except for when ingesting coffee and cake) and there was a short live recital by two unmasked musicians. We all hope Martha's will have a flourishing future.

*Martha was the name of the small girl who 'laid' the foundation stone back in 1878 (only then it was a temperance hall.)
Here's another small girl, my granddaughter, who I'm hoping to see very soon.
