CHRISTMAS CACTUS

Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera sp);  so named because it tends to flower around Christmas. Native to Brazil, this plant comes to me from my mother through my grandmother. Cutting after cutting...this plant's origin is over 75 years old.

I'm not sure which species this is...but the color is beautiful. Mine flowers early typically in mid November. Perhaps it's confused by moving to the northern hemisphere. It flowers profusely for two months then takes a short break and flowers again in the Springtime. Then nothing until the following November.
