Sad

So I know I’m bending the rules but also keeping myself healthy and remote from others.
Last Monday I did a walk from Cockburnspath to Pease Bay then Cove but realised the walk I was trying to find was the opposite direction. Headed back today to find it.
As headed towards Cockburnspath a horrible black plume of smoke was ahead, and blue lights galore passing heralded something bad had happened ahead.diverted off the A1 and stuck in a lot of traffic but eventually got to my starting position and headed off across the fields to Dunglass.A helicopter coming in and the awful smell of burning as came closer to the spot and weirdly came across three big pigs. Initially thought they were just wild but then the lacerations on their back and apparent injuries, realised these were survivors., but also right next to the busy A1and could easily cause havoc when the road opened.
What to do?
Decided to walk up the closed A1 towards the accident and tell the police. The accident site lay ahead and seemingly a lorry carrying 300 pigs had collided with a tractor hitting another lorry and car. Not good. Horrific in fact, more by the background of the still burning lorry with pigs trapped inside. The sound was indescribable.
Who knows how many Mondays were destroyed by road conditions or a simple misjudgement but a wee stark lesson of how easy it is for all to stop.
A bit shaken, finished the walk which was as beautiful as promised culminating again in the lovely Cove.
Home, did not meet or come into contact with a soul apart from the brief brush with the police but perhaps it’s better to stay indoors after all.
