Playful Playfair Lions

I have never noticed the lions on Playfair Steps before, patiently holding the handrail in their jaws, apart from the end ones, looks like they would like to bite your hand!

But they have no teeth, so it would just be a bit of fair play on the steps, wouldn't it?
