Bring the turkey....

Trader Joe's is well stocked for the American annual feast of Thanksgiving.   To those who are unaware of when it is, it's next Thursday.

A small selection of traditional accompaniments to be served with the turkey are shown above.

Fried onions - to go on top of the green bean casserole.
Cranberry sauce - to help the turkey go down.
Mushroom soup - a vital ingredient for the green bean casserole.
Turkey gravy - gravy
Canned pumpkin - well obviously, pumpkin pie
Corn - lots of possibilities with corn, creamed corn, cornbread, corn muffins, corn pudding and so on and so on.....

Other accompaniments are mashed potato, apple pie, bread rolls and the most interesting one is sweet potato casserole with marshmallows on top.

Our first Thanksgiving here was 23 years ago.  We were kindly invited to celebrate with a lovely family.  Being used to dressing up for Christmas we arrived in our best bib and tucker only to find everyone dressed in jeans or sweatpants.  Didn't make that mistake again!
