KILLDEER

Common Killdeer (Charadrius vociferus); one of the Plovers. Curiously nests in rocks/stones. It didn't get the name vociferus for nothing. Their high-pitched call gets seriously loud and noisy if you get near a nest. The females even fake injury to lure predators away from the nest site. Check it out:
