I resorted to the cemetery today. Most of the fresh flowers with which graves were decorated on 1 November are looking somewhat the worse for wear. See extra for an alternative blip of more robust ones.

Little more to say today ... I'm more bored with lockdown than I was during the first stricter lockdown in Spain, but I think that's a lot to do with not being able to spend so much time outdoors because of the weather. It was sunny and not as cold as yesterday, thanks to no wind, but not warm enough to sit around.

Continued to read The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock, watched a talk at the online Cambridge Literary Festival: Kadiatu and Konya Kaddeh-Mason talking about being part of a household in which all seven children are professional quality musicians. Mind-boggling how they manage to keep all the balls in the air. Later we'll watch a talk by Helen McDonald; a £25 ticket gives you access to all the events and you can either watch live or later.

All of this is a relief from following what's happening in US and UK politics. Extraordinary how the ranks of Tory MPs line up to basically say that the independent report into Priti Patel's behaviour, based on the testimony of witnesses, is a pack of lies, because "she's always been nice to me!"
