Helena Handbasket

Away in a manger

No crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus
Lay down his smashed head.
The shards in red ramekins
and donkey's ears too,
The tip of a cow horn
Now where is that glue?

in the window of the antique-cum-junk shop lie little pieces of the infant's fractured skull, two donkey ears and the tip of a cow's horn. The parents, shepherds, sheep and visiting oriental dignitaries appear to have survived whatever onslaught did for the innocent.

Certainly talking the ears off a donkey makes much more sense to me than its hind legs.
