A MOMENT OF DISCOVERY

A while back I paid a visit to Cambridge, MA to visit a student of mine who was attending Harvard University.....she has since graduated and taken her Master's Degree in agronomy at the University of Wisconsin.

While there we toured the campus and walked around a bit. We happened upon this little girl standing in the middle of a puddle watching her reflection in the water. Her mother was sitting on a bench nearby watching with a big smile on her face. Instead of yelling at her not to get her shoes wet, she allowed her to have this...moment of discovery. Very insightful mother.

Yes....I did talk to mom, showed her the photo and asked her permission to keep it. She kindly consented. BTW.....if you notice the Exif details, the ISO/shutter speed is particularly high for a shot like this. The fact is, I just raised the camera and snap shot so as not to miss it before the moment was gone. I never had time to change settings from my previous frame.
