Entry not advised

I really wouldn’t recommend you try going through this gate, not without waders anyway. Actually it reflects a trend in farming, where equipment gets bigger and bigger, fields get bigger too and gateways are doubled in size. The old gates start appearing as space fillers where fences are broken.

Some years ago when I was chairing Highland Council’s roads committee, I complained to a Black Isle Councillor, also a farmer, about the damage the ever bigger kit was doing to the roads and their drainage. There came this arrogant response: “if you want to eat, you’ll have to put up with what farmers do.” I didn’t agree then, and don’t agree now. There has to be moderation somewhere.
