Pillbox

A cold, clear day, but no chance of a walk this morning as we had to wait in for deliveries. MrM had ordered some wood for various projects in the flat and the workshop. Among other things, I had ordered some 'skin food' - I use it as hand cream, essential in these days of constant hand washing - not available locally, it's good stuff and well worth waiting for!

After the last parcel had arrived we set off for the Common just before 3.00pm. The light was already fading, and I took a couple of shots of the pillbox as we walked up the road, assuming that it would be a little too dark for photos by the time we reached the Common. It's one of many pillboxes in this area built at the beginning of WWII as part of the network of defences against an anticipated German invasion.

Good to see Sheila (the 'bird lady' - she fills the feeders dotted around the Common) and chat for a while (at a distance, of course) before continuing round the path. By the time we reached the road again on our way back, the streetlights had come on.
