White Tower landmark

The White Tower  of Rijswijk and not of Saloniki ~ this white tower was a watertower, the tower of Saloniki was realized by the Ottoman (Turkish) occupiers in 15th C as fortification tower.

This white tower in my blip is of Rijswijk and Delft and was realized in 1911 as a water tower to supply the citizens of Delft and this region Sion from drinking water. Since 1874 the city of Den Haag had its drinking water company and 25 years later 70% of the houses in the region near that city received water from a tap; this water-tower was realized as a water reservoir in the pipeline from Den Haag up to Delft. This tower was in operation till 1988; now it seems to be a small loft / house of 61m².

I liked the floodlight on the white tower and blipped it as it stands out nice here.

And today the world lost an icon with Diego Maradona
