Unfamiliar Fly

As soon as I spotted this fly on my white plastic laundry basket I saw it was a new one on me. It was about the size of a blowfly, but it looked a little slimmer. It waited patiently as I went off to fetch my camera and then generously posed for me.

I have no idea what sort of fly it is. I hunted through dozens of NZ fly images and found nothing like it.

Edit: Chamaeleo was on to it. It was a horsefly.
