Lorna's father's MBE medal

Having written about Lorna's father's military career in the two world wars on Monday this week, we wondered what had become of his medals. Could they still be held by a member of Lorna's family?

A quick flurry of emails gave us the answer. Most of Lorna's father's medals from the world wars, as well as his South Africa medal with 5 clasps from the Anglo-Boer war (also known as the South Africa war or the Second Boer war), were donated to charity around 35 years ago to raise money for dialysis and kidney transplants for children.

One medal, however, was kept. The MBE, which we have blipped today, is now in the ownership of Lorna's nephew. He has kindly photographed it for today's entry in Lorna's blipfoto journal.
