Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

By NannaK

Thankful

A different Thanksgiving day for sure in 2020.  Most often we are in the woods at the island with parts of family..it just seems right.  Today it was the two of us at home so that is what i’ll record for the blip.. including a different menu for us (Salmon, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts and Fiona’s cornbread. the wine is some French Sancerre).    But  the extra will show some of the VERY super socialness that happened.     I did bake a pumpkin pie so delivered pieces to 2 neighbors who each live alone  (we were thinking we might have it together but the covid is so bad right now we’ve become even more hermit-like if that’s even possible so just had a short distance chat) and to Mike and Tom on a very poignant TG as Tom nears the end of his life.    whew.  Then it wasn’t raining so we thot we’d have a 15 min visit just to see Fiona’s family …they are missing the island a lot too as they always come up there!)  We brought them the Swedish xmas figures so they can have the races they always did on the floor with them when they helped me decorate.  That won’t happen this year.   Good to see them and Maple of course, who senses when the car pulls up.   Then home for a lovely quiet zoom with Herb’s brother and sister in law, very nice.     Then while getting dinner ready Eric facetimed and we had our glass of wine, shrimp and Randi’s cheeseballs for a nice chat with the boys and Cocoa.    Nik always finds something weird to do with the screen…I have to learn how to do that . Much more talking to many more people than we are accustomed to these days but all wonderful to touch base with the whole family.   We are very lucky.  Everyone is healthy.  So many things to be thankful for, one of which is blip of course.
And now maybe we can find room for our wee piece of pumpkin pie…and collapse on the couch.

Tomorrow will be quiet.
