Fire risk

Heatwave conditions today in NSW. At 8.00am this morning it was already uncomfortably hot for walking. The winds are hot and dry and gusty. There is a total fire ban in much of the state. It’s only November and already people are nervous about fires. The Rural Fire Service is issuing alerts about the risk of grass and crop fires.

These tall grasses that are springing up along the roads where we walk look so pretty and lush. But if the hot dry weather continues, they will very quickly turn into dry, brown fuel for grass fires.

It’s not all doom and gloom though. Victoria have recorded their 29th consecutive day with no new Covid cases. Onya Victoria, Onya Daniel.
