Life in Newburgh on Ythan

The goldfish from Brazil

Everything holds memories. Many years ago a cutting of this plant was given to us by an old friend of Mrs T. They had taught together at the start of Mrs T's career at the chalkface.

The plant is Nematanthus tropicana, a hybrid of  N. perianthomegus and N. radicans. Nematanthus, is a genus of about 30 trailing or climbing sub-shrubs from tropical South America. They are often called "goldfish" plants or "clog plants", referring to the shape of the flowers in shades of red, orange and yellow.

Yesterday's "extra" has the look of the ocean but it was in fact a photograph of the clouds above our house, with the colours slightly tweaked.
