On the waggonways

We met #2 daughter at her front door and she took us for a 6.5 mile walk. We went via the big park so that we could decide which tree to hang balloons on next Sunday ready for Thomas to arrive for his birthday cake. (We can only meet in a public space in Tier 3).

The walk was new to us, following the old tracks where coal was hauled. It was flat and quite pleasant though busy and lots of people didn’t walk in single file. After a while we turned off down into Holywells Dene and saw where Thomas likes to watch birds. Then it was hard road to the coast from where we saw the lighthouse in the mis. It was a slog along the links at Whitley Bay and back up a road to the park. The boys and dad had cycled and were playing with school friends. It was lovely to see them but horrid not to be able to hug. It will be so nice when we can have them to stay without parents. A year is a long time in the life of a child.

We discovered a new Scani Noir set in Iceland called Valhalla. Luckily I prepped our evening meal earlier as I’m tired. I think we were walking faster than usual to keep up with daughter as we did the walk in 2.25 hours.
