State Park

Today's adventure: we got a poke bowl downtown and drove up to Henry Cowell State Park to have lunch. A simple outing, maybe 15 minutes from home, and why don't we do this more often??! We found a picnic table in the sun, not easy in the forest, and had a lovely time. The San Lorenzo River runs nearby, and there is a mile-long walking trail that loops through the giant old-growth redwoods. We've taken many a visitor on that walk, and have fond memories of the grandchildren hiding in the hollowed out trunk of the Fremont tree. "There's room for the whole family!"  We are lucky to have the ways and means to take these little outings; it makes a big difference in our attitude to have a change of scene.
