Talk Like An Egyptian

A very vocal Egyptian goose at Holyfield Farm this afternoon. Their generic name comes from the Greek, meaning fox goose. This one is looking quite foxy-coloured in the golden light. Actually they are more duck than goose, being related to shelducks and originated in Africa south of the Sahara and the Nile valley.

I wanted to feature the pochard vermiculations yesterday but the light was poor. The delicate vermiculations on the breast of this bird can be seen in the sunshine.
