Appointment

I have, I may say,
places to go
and faces to see
but have decided to delay
putting my key
in the ignition.
Before I begin
my journey
I'll contemplate
life and its meaning
and the wide sky
and each tree
that stands before me.
Things can wait.
I'm sure my dentist
won't object to me being late.
