Wear and tear

This auger in the dryer has a little sieve (those tiny holes in the bottom) to remove weed seed from the grain. Drying the last batch last year, grain started appearing in the bucket where the removed stuff is directed in. I didn't remember to do anything about it before drying season this year and of course the problem only got worse. I had to remove the chain running the smaller auger below (taking the weed seed out) to prevent that from happening.

Today I opened the auger to see what's wrong with it. The hole in the side on the left was repaired a few years ago by putting a piece of steel on the outside, when some grain started coming out through it. It appears that now there is another hole in the bottom on the right and that's where the grain leaks to the weed seed auger now. What to do now? Changing the whole conveyor casing is not a small task and probably not cheap either. Using some sort of filler might be a short term solution, but one thing is for sure. I must do something to change the way the grain comes into this conveyor as it appears to hit a very small area and therefore those two spots have worn out.
