Orleans House Gallery

L2 finished. It was only 27 days despite Boris saying it would be for a month!
Today I went on a very chilly cycle ride with three friends to Richmond Park, Ham and then over Richmond Bridge to the cafe at Orleans House.
Orleans House was a Palladian Villa built in 1710 for the politician and diplomat James Johnston. It was subsequently names after the Duc d’Orleans who stayed there in the early 19C. By 1926 it was derelict and mostly demolished, however the baroque octagonal room was preserved and together with a converted stable block is now the Orleans House Gallery and is currently owned by the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. The octagonal room can be hired for weddings...or could be!
