A Fresh Start-Advent Day 3

What a great title to start the day with, full of hope and promise just where we like to be.  Looking forward to our final evidence gathering session later today with @Learners_Forum-and looking for that fresh start for adult learning really soon.

It's been three long years in the wait and two strange years in the middle-the past one being the strangest. 

We're not looking for more of the same-we're looking for something very different-something that makes certain adult learners are at the heart of decision-making about adult learning.

I can find no one who disagrees with that-no one who believes that adults don't have the right to be able to play an active part in their own lives. We had a good look last week for some ways to illustrate this and found this quote in that Christmas Film the Holiday-have a look its a cheery one..

Arthur Abbott: This is not a hard one to figure out. Iris, in the movies we have leading ladies and we have the best friend. You, I can tell, are a leading lady, but for some reason you are behaving like the best friend.


Iris: You're so right. You're supposed to be the leading lady of your own life, for god's sake!


It's a great metaphor for adult learners across Scotland.
