200 Smoots

Free at last - my quarantine period is over so I was able to rejoin society.

To celebrate I took a walkaround MIT and Harvard in Cambridge, just across the Charles River from Boston. I took a few photos but I wasn't feeling inspired and I'm not that pleased with the results.

This is the one that spoke to me most, as I remember reading a book about MIT at a very early age that referenced the story of Smoot. Oliver Smoot was a freshman at MIT in the '60s, and as part of a fraternity stunt they laid him out repeatedly to measure the Harvard Bridge, marking off the distance with paint. This has been refreshed many times over the years and is still just visible!
