Montmartre's Vineyard

We visited Montmartre today, to see a superb exhibition "Around the Chat Noir" at its museum. The Chat Noir was a famous cabaret which served as the center for the incredibly productive explosion of art, music and culture in Paris in the 1880s .

On the way we passed the vineyard--the oldest in Paris, dating at least from the 16th century when Montmartre was still outside of the city limits. (However, it's said that the first vines were planted by the first Abbesse of the Abby of Montmartre in the 12th century.)
