flattening the curve

It's been sunny all day today so I've been out walking twice, and Jess has been swimming in the Cairn Water (brrrr).

At this time of year, as solstice approaches, we always take more notice of sunrise and sunset times. Today the sun will set at 3.47pm. The earliest sunset is on the 9th December, at 3.45pm. It stays at that time until the 18th, when the evenings begin to lengthen out again (!) Because of sunrise times getting later, the shortest day will be on 21st December. On that day, sunrise is at 8.38am and sunset at 3.47pm, with a day length of 7 hrs 9 min 26 s.

I have a really good app called LunaSolCal which gives all this data. It also shows the daily path of the sun and moon. When this photo was taken (at 12..55pm) the sun was at about 10 degrees above the horizon.

Time to go and sit by the fire :-)
