LD 257. Strachur Kirk

Whilst the east of the country was suffering a deluge , the west today had bright , if cold, winter sunshine.   It is usually the other way round!

We went to Glenbranter early on  to buy our Christmas tree - well organised for these COVID times by Forest Scotland with socially distanced and sanitised choosing and picking up.

We have been buying our tree there since I was first responsible for forestry as a Minister in 2007 but we usually go much closer to Christmas .

This year, like many, I suspect we are a bit more eager to start celebrating though it won’t go up for at least another week.

We drove through Strachur village on our way and I stopped to take this.   I am increasingly fascinated by these little village kirks  with their graveyards and the blue sky set the building off well this morning..

Such buildings continue to provide a key community focus and asset, as  the notice board testifies,  and those are  more needed than ever at present.
