Bloomin' Daphne!

In late January and mid-February, two of our most fragrant flowers bloom, as a sort of consolation for the cold, wet winter we've yet to endure. Our witch hazel bloomed last month and is still robust with its glorious scent filling the yard. Yesterday the first daphne blossom peeked out, right on schedule. It has a bright, peppery scent, and a tiny sprig of it can be overwhelming when brought into a small room.

We love our early bloomers - they are optimism on a stem.
