Yellow pohutukawa

Pohutukawa flowers are of course typically red, varying from a dull burgundy through to bright crimson or scarlet. However there is also the uncommon yellow version, metrosideros excelsa aurea.  Since originally being discovered (1947) on Motiti Island near Tauranga, they have been cultivated in various nurseries and are now found scattered thinly around Auckland, and also elsewhere in the North Island and Christchurch.
I found this one just near Bayswater Marina, the flowers just about over (although the red ones are at their peak right now).
