Unmarked path

For our day's outing we walked from Cally car park along a narrow path above Polney Crag. From there we rejoined the waymarked Atholl Woods path for a circuit up to Mill Dam and then back to car park.

The path to Polney Crag intrigues me. It's narrow but cut into the rocky hillside and well made. It must have taken a real effort, as if it were once important. After Polney Crag it turns becomes a wider track, again well made . Yet the path isn't shown on the OS maps.

I was pleased to see improvement in Scottish COVID infections. Perth and Kinross remains in level 3, so no trips to the Fife coast for us. At least we have no shortage of beautiful walks in Perthshire.
