V Day is finally here.....

Another damp start, but by mid morning it had dried up enough overhead to get yesterday’s 40 cows and their calves sorted out. Usual script, Ross on haircut duty , clipping a strip along the calves backline to help stop them sweating while I was giving them their pneumonia vaccine . This is a 2ml dose squirted up a nostril. If you time it wrong they are quite good at snorting it back out in your face, so I don’t think there will be any rush for me to get the covid one as over the years I’ve inhaled plenty of the cattle stuff !
An afternoon next door sorting out cows that had newly calved and shifting the 8 still left to calve to a harder , dryer field. Not many of them just now, emptied another 1/2 inch out the rain gauge today.
