Eye of the Needle (widwed091220)

Start by losing track of which day it is ... that should make for a good blip!

By the time I had caught up with today being Wednesday it was well beyond sunset and some lateral thinking was needed.  The nearest I could think of for eye catching was some play on eyes of needles so my blip is an upholsterer's needle as it had the biggest eye we could find.

It was Gill's dad's,  he was apprenticed as an upholsterer and did some great work restoring old furniture.  Not the best paid work, so he moved on the the Post Office working on telephone exchanges and then into teaching.  But he did keep on with his old skills and when we cleared the garage, Gill kept a box of these large curved sewing needles.  For a sense of scale, the whole needle is 130mm end to end and the eye is 8mm long.

Seen in large you can just about read England stamped into the steel.

Thanks to Bobsblips for hosting Wide Wednesday.
