Lantana montevidensis

Lantana is native to Mexico, and Central and South America. It was first recorded in Australia in the Adelaide Botanical Gardens in 1841, from where it got out. It is regarded as one of Australia's worst weeds, being highly invasive due to its ability to spread in several ways. It is a weed of national significance.

The one in the photo is also known as trailing lantana. I picked a few growing through the fence of a nearby garden. It's quite pretty and not one of the very prickly varieties but still it can spread by producing large numbers of seeds which become dispersed by birds who eat them.

Thanks for hosting BikerBear. Stay well blippers.
