It’s been a Doug day....
.....this morning our rural mailman delivered to our door his brand spanking new golf croquet mallet, a happy chappy was he. 
Looks as if he needs new slippers, fat chance considering the price of the mallet!!! Lol.
.....then later in the morning he decided we should make a Christmas cake (we had previously decided not to as no family will be here this  Christmas).  Well, who am I to argue.  Off he goes to the supermarket to get all the necessary ingredients (and a lot more too). It was in the oven by 1pm, takes 3 1/2 hours to cook and the smell coming from the kitchen is like no other.  The recipe we always use is the Pineapple Christmas Cake. Always tasty and moist, nothing to do with the brandy I pour over when it comes out of the oven, ha ha???!!!!   
We have a lot of bench space in our kitchen, but he seemed to be able to fill every possible space.  I quietly followed him around tidying making more room for more mess.  I notice in the photo that he has been sampling, with mixture on his nose and mouth.  
Tonight we’ve been invited to a restaurant to join our friends and mutual friends to celebrate a significant birthday. Looking forward to our evening out.
