Anne's Daily Encounters

From Supersister

While I knitted the last needles for a lovely warm pullover I watched a documentary on this man Robert Jan Stips; a musician from Den Haag's rock scene in the late 60-ies and early 70-ies. Like lots of kids then,  he too started his career in a schoolband with friends and they played on and gave a name to their band... Supersister they named her and they played in Holland and in the USA with that band.
The band stopped playing but this man Rob Stips didn't and he is named the 'magician of Nederpop" (Nederpop = Dutch popmusic) and the docu was made to celebrate his 50 years of making and playing music.

This image was shown on tele when he spoke of his father, whom he'd lost as a young teenager and his death had made him chose for Life in music; what his papa probably had wanted to live too, as he'd played the piano he'd bought for his family so impressively well on the day it was brought into their little apartment ~ he'd never heard from his papa about his love for music, just heard him play music for such a short time when home behind the new piano till he disappeared so suddenly.
A moving story and nicely realized in this drawing.

Already Weekend about... wishing you all a Happy Advent Weekend and safety away from that awful virus!
