He was one of the finest climbers of his generation. He became a national hero in 1975 when with Dougal Haston they were the first British climbers to summit Everest and by the difficult South West Face
This story of his successful climb of the Ogre with Chris Bonington is one of the greatest adventure stories I have read with a desperate fight for survival.
