Christmassy

Can you guess what these are? (No cheating, HarlingDarling and Beloved!)

Delighted to say that we had a bit of unexpected sunshine today, so am typing this in the luxurious light of an electric light bulb. Mike used the generator for his tools again.

I ordered an Advent book that should have got here before Advent - but still no sign...
So am meditating on a phrase each day from Isaiah 9v6. For unto us a Child is born...  When God chose to come to us, he came as a helpless babe - what is more helpless than a newborn human, dependent in every way on someone else? And not even a rich babe, but the child of folk so poor and oppressed that his mother had to travel to be registered as she was about to give birth, no democracy there... And I think this is where we get it wrong as his followers too often - thinking we need to have power, influence, to force our fellowmen to act as we think they should. This was not the way of Jesus!

Gratefuls:
- walking back from market, and seeing the sun come out across the Lake, and making sparkles of all the raindrops
- chatting to Guillame, Kasia, Mira, our new French/Polish neighbours
- a clean(ish) and tidy(ish) house - we have guests for lunch tomorrow, hopefully
