Focus on the city

A good idea in this period of change for us. . For the last ten to fifteen years we have split our time and attention between the apartment in Grey Lynn and the beach house. Each has satisfied wants and needs, and in both places we have felt at home. That was knocked sideways when the water pipes burst in the beach house causing significant damage and repairing it became complicated.

We decided we needed a single place, the apartment is too small and has no outside/no garden. The beach house is too far from our children and grandchildren, and the city still appeals.

We moved to Auckland for my last year of medical school and apart from one year in New Plymouth, and slightly less than a year at the end of my training when we were in London we have stayed in the central suburbs of Auckland. It’s where we feel most at home.

Central city prices are beyond us at this time, so we will move to the west when able to find the right place at the right time.

Meanwhile we seem to have the prospect of a sale of the apartment. After being told by our agent of the new situation, we enjoyed an evening meal on the deck, with a glass of wine, and watched the sun set in the west where we hope to be. Still in the city.
