Not a Carrot!

A few miles south of Norwich, this is the only remaining mast on the site of RAF Stoke Holy Cross. Built around the beginning of WWII, eight masts here originally formed part of the wider Chain Home Network, one of the first applications of radar in the world, and one of Britain’s secret weapons against the Luftwaffe.
To put the Germans off the scent of further developments of the new technology, the Ministry of Information put out publicity claiming that the success of night raids on German targets had simply been due to the pilots eating carrots.
