Up early for a visit to Edinburgh Zoo. No one however had thought to tell the animals that they needed to be up, out of their warm sheds and entertaining the paying visitors in the sub-zero temperatures by 9 am.

Today I have experienced the delights of everything from wild tigers to cute Koalas.

Stars of the show however, were Yang Guang and Tian Tian   who are in the process of preparing to mate. Last Sunday, the zoo announced Yang Guang was performing "handstands" while scent-marking his enclosure as a demonstration of virility.
