Wedding Anniversary

Actually it is tomorrow however we are having a meal out tonight. 44 years. 1976 seems a very long time ago. I was a first year teacher and we had to wait for the school holidays to fit in our wedding and honeymoon. Apart from my closest teaching friend nobody at the school even knew that we were getting married. Management were slightly embarrassed and produced a belated wedding gift at the start of the 1977 academic year. We rented a school house for $20 per week
Imagine if you could do that now. We bought our first little house in February 1978 for $23,000. It seemed a huge amount of money at the time. Inflation took over and such houses sell for around $500,000 these days.
