Poison bulb

This flower, also known as spider lily, is a member of the Amarillidaceae family. Other members are agapanthus and hippeastrum. They are characterised by their flowers growing in umbels, that is as a group from a stem. It is native to east Asia, Pacific islands and Australia.

I really like them, with their crazy stamens and anthers. They remind me of the paintings of French post impressionist artist Henri Rousseau who painted in the primitive or naive style. Every time I see these flowers I think of Rousseau's jungly works.
