complicated and expensive. We have had an intermittent electrical problem for some weeks. We therefore had some detailed attention from an electrician. A damaged connection was found and repaired and we decided to have a new consumer unit fitted as well. This one identifies which circuit is faulty should a fault develop and shuts it down leaving the healthy circuits intact and functioning. The old one simply shut everything down, rather an unhelpful blunderbuss approach.

The box has rather a lot of wires and connections but the electrician knew which went where as he connected them to the new unit and then tested everything. I hope all goes well from now on. I'll be paying for about eight hours good skilled work.
