Tractor Run 2020

RC Bakers, a local agricultural contractors have organised a Christmas tractor run for the last few years which has grown to be a bit of a local tradition. They get 100 local farmers and those with tractors to decorate them and drive around a route of probably 10-15 miles with all donations going to Katherine House Hospice

As you can imagine a convoy of 100 tractors creates its own little traffic ecosystem, but the Police and Fire brigade are on hand to help out, ensuring they get priority at traffic lights. The public support is immense and people lined the streets, not only around the villages but in between too.

The team at Bakers had less than a week from their confirmation from the council that they would be allowed to do the run this year to pulling it all together, and they did an amazing job. Last year they raised more than £10,000 and I believe that this year they have smashed that, even with all the hard times people have been having. It will be great to hear their final total.

I think seeing the tractors out, decorated and blowing their horns and playing Christmas songs really lifted people's spirits in the run up. Well done to all the people who decorated their tractors, and all the volunteers that help make the whole thing happen.
