A bit rubbish

The day started like this - stuck behind the bin lorry in the pouring rain - and ended up worse.

The warnings about a new, even more contagious, strain of Coronavirus in the UK causing stricter lockdown rules and families being no longer able to see each other at Christmas was just the start of it.  By the end of the day we've had ports closed, lorries queuing in Kent, countries banning flights from the UK and supermarkets trying to calm food shortage fears... and the expectation of worse to come... with a no deal Brexit looking very likely.

On the positive side my DPD parcels arrived safely in less than 24 hours, even to Scotland (and I'm very happy that I made that decision yesterday as Christmas present chaos is also forecast).  But most happily is that Ben eventually made it home last night, following a negative COVID test.

Everyone else in the house is now in full swing holiday mode, with Sam already more than halfway through a Harry Potter film binge.  I've just got tomorrow morning and then I can join in.
