Kelly's on King Hotel, Newtown

Kelly's on King was established under a different name in 1859. It closed in the late 1970s to become a McDonald's. This was ultimately not a successful venture and it closed in the mid 1990s. As far as the local chums and I know, this could be one of the only McDonald's that didn't work. Perhaps the wrong demographic.

Kelly's on King as we know it emerged in 1999. It's an 'Irish pub', and we feel that these only work in Ireland. But from within the dingy interior sparkled this rather nice Christmas tree, visible from the bus and I thought there's my 'anything festive' blip. I'm glad there were a few clients about, and that Billy Joel was on the tele.

Thanks for hosting BobsBlips. Stay well blippers.
