Joy and Adult Learning A Story : Advent Day 23

In much need of a little Happy Ending this Year…A change of perspective.. For us this time of year gives us space to learn some new life lessons wrapped in stories..

Through fairy tales and fables we learn about society, class, relationships, emotions, values, vices alongside good and evil.

We feel lifted we see people facing their obstacles, fighting adversity and succeed, it inspires us to think: “If they can do it, so can I?” We remember our own happy ending.

When we worry or when we are hurt, we can have difficulty distancing ourselves from that feeling, sometimes all we need is a little change in perspective to find our troubles aren’t as big as they appear to be in our head.

This year many of us have learned to be more in touch with nature, finding out about our wild birds and animals through our daily walks. Getting out into the countryside or into a park has kept us sane in hard times.

So, it’s good to remember that when the weather isn’t kind stories are a way to escape and learn more. Some joyful reading time for me I think..

I like this quote from the Tale of the Unknown Island:

“Don’t you know, if you don’t step outside yourself, you’ll never discover who you are.”
