Sunset behind the grid

Today's the day …………………….. to see stars

Still an early sunset - but a comforting thought that we are past the shortest day and slowly but surely, the days will start stretching out again.  And the sky really was this glorious colour with not too many clouds.

And with a clear sky, I think it may still be possible to witness the 'great conjunction'  between Saturn and Jupiter?  Although these planets are hundreds of millions of miles apart, at the beginning of the week they formed a line through space with Earth.  This proximity in the evening sky (which last occurred about 400 years ago) causes the two gas giants to appear very close to one another - almost as if they were one bright star.

The origin of the 'Star of Bethlehem'?  Who knows ……………………?
